As another form of organizational learning a Lunch & Learn program is often a scheduled recurring event taking place usually once per sprint. In most cases these are organized by an Agile Coach or some other Master of Ceremonies. Here learning specific topics presented by local experts within the organization or even guest speakers external to the org. Topics can be anything relevant to the business and future sessions can even be requested.
Each Lunch & Learn instance could be one long topic or be broken down into 2-3 smaller ones. The power of this option comes from the wisdom of the crowd in driving what needs to be learned. Bonus side effects include gaining experience with public speaking, storytelling as well as content creation & delivery.
This can have a cold start problem in getting topics generated and presenters signed up. So, in my experience the organizer may need to prime the pump and present a few topics in order to generate awareness and interest from both sides.
